Three no-faucet watering options to investigate for pots

A documentation-based comparison of a solar pump, moisture-responsive drippers and a planter with built-in storage.

These options solve different installation problems. We compare their documented approaches and the checks each requires; we have not tested them or selected an overall winner.

Choose the installation problem first

The three examples below are not interchangeable replacements. A pump can distribute stored water to existing pots. A compatible gravity-fed drip arrangement needs a suitable water-supply position. A planter with its own reservoir means choosing a different container.

Start by deciding whether you want to keep your pots, can place a water container safely and can provide the required power or supply height. That decision should remove unsuitable approaches before you compare retailer offers.

RainPoint ITP138: investigate panel position and the exact version

RainPoint’s support documentation describes ITP138 as a reservoir-fed pump with solar and USB-C charging. That makes the model worth investigating for existing pots where a suitable panel position and water-storage arrangement are available.

Confirm the current version and installation limits in its support pages. Plan how you would recharge, refill and inspect it during real use. Charging choices do not establish a guaranteed unattended runtime, and we have not measured flow, battery endurance or long-term reliability.

Tropf-Blumat Set 12: plan the supply before the sensors

Blumat documents Tropf as a moisture-responsive dripper system. Its water-supply guidance covers a suitable elevated tank or a regulated supply. For a no-faucet installation, the tank arrangement must meet the exact manufacturer requirements.

Do not copy the setup instructions for Blumat Classic: it is a separate product family, and Blumat’s FAQ describes different water-container positioning. Confirm the kit contents and required supply fittings before buying. We have not calibrated or trialed either family.

EarthBox Original: compare the complete planting system

EarthBox’s instructions show a planter incorporating an aeration screen, fill tube and water reservoir. It belongs on the list when you are choosing a new growing container rather than looking only for equipment to connect to existing pots.

Read the planting and filling instructions before choosing a kit variant. Compare what the package includes, where overflow goes and how you will access the fill tube after the plant grows. Built-in storage is not a promise that the container will last a set number of days between refills.

Compare offers without losing the specification

The shopping links below are ordinary links, not activated affiliate links. Manufacturer pages and marketplace searches are separated so you can verify documentation before looking for an offer. A search result is not a verified listing, stock confirmation or endorsement of a seller.

When comparing an offer, match the model, version, included parts, warranty region and return conditions. Prices, stock and shipping are deliberately not reproduced here because we have not established a live catalog feed. Check those details with the seller at the time of purchase.

RainPoint ITP138

Reservoir-fed solar pump. Existing pots, a suitable panel location and accessible water storage.

Verify version, lift, charging arrangement and layout; no endurance test performed.

Tropf-Blumat Set 12

Moisture-responsive drippers. Existing containers with a supported water supply; investigate an elevated tank for no-faucet use.

Supply height, stability and required fittings must be established before purchase.

EarthBox Original

Planter with built-in reservoir. A new container garden or a planned change of planter.

Different kits contain different extras; confirm setup, growing medium and refill access.
